We left on bus from Bolzano to the port to get the ferry. Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals, including the Grand Canal thoroughfare, lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs. For almost a thousand years Venice was the capitol of the Republic of Venice from 810 to 1797 AD. It was a major financial and maritime power ands an important center of commerce especially silk, grain, and spice, and also center of art from the 13th century to the end of the 17th.
Next morning , the walking tour of the Venice with local guides, a visit to workshop of Furcula making, also a glass making workshop. The Rialto market, Rialto Mercato.
