Dolomites
Saying good bye to our beautiful view of the Lake Como and moving towards Dolomites, staying in Bolzano, visiting Otzi the Iceman and having a hearty delicious dinner at a medieval castle in Balzano area called Castell Roncolo , or Schloss Runkelstein. A very charming place famous for a circle of old frescoes on secular
subjects which have been perfectly preserved but sadly this time was closed to the visitors .

Urtijëi (Ladin), German: St. Ulrich ; Italian: Ortisei [ortiˈzɛi]) is a town of 4,637 inhabitants in South Tyrol in northern Italy. It occupies the Val Gardena within the Dolomites, a mountain chain that is part of the Alps. We decided to visit St Ulrich church and stroll around the town and get a gondola ride and take a scenic hike. Urtijei is a very German looking town.
Scenery is just magnificent, and reminded us as scenes of movie " The Sound of Music".
Dolomites Alps feature some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes anywhere, with vertical walls, sheer cliffs and a high density of narrow, deep and long valleys and no vegetations. They take their names from Carbonate rock Dolomite.
